Businessmen injured in armed robbery

Selebi-Phikwe Police Station commander Superintendent Victor Nlebesi said the criminals jumped over the security wall and forced open the front door of the duo's house.   The victims told the police that the assailants were armed with a pellet gun.Nlebesi said the victims have been admitted at Selebi-Phikwe government hospital for yet unspecified injuries. He said he was still awaiting information on the duo's current state of health from the hospital.

'The criminals got away with six cell phones and less than P5,000 in cash. We have not arrested anybody in connection with the offense. We appeal to members of the public to assist the police with any information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals,' said Nlebesi.He pleaded with the business community to avoid keeping money in their houses. He advised that they deposit money every business day.

He warned that keeping money at home attracts criminals. He further advised  that people must improve security in their homes by installing alarms.  He said a proper working alarm system could assist in detecting intruders while simultaneously alerting security companies. He also noted that people must always pay attention whenever dogs bark. Nlebesi advised that people should relate well with their neighbors so that they can help each other when under attack.

Meanwhile, the police boss said they have not made any arrests in the Sefalana Cash 'n Carry heist that took place last month. The robbers blasted away three cash boxes of the wholesale using explosives and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.'We are not sure about the number of robbers who committed the offence because we have not arrested anybody in connection with the offence. I am still appealing to members of the public to assist us with any information that could assist in our investigations. People should not be scared to assist us because we will protect their identity at all times,' said Nlebesi.
