"Brother Sthini" takes Kalanga music to another level

Tlhaloganyo says the hit song, recorded at Grammar records in Zimbabwe, called Khirisimosi is sang in his mother-tongue Kalanga which always excites him.  The track which is rhythmical and is easy to relate to since its lyrics are about the much-loved Festive Season.  It tells the story about the Christmas festivities and how people are always happy, the chattering of birds, rainy weather and how people are always busy preparing for Christmas Day.  'Khirisimosi is a good song sang in Kalanga and therefore the song creates the mood for Christmas. It also relates to people through the chores that are portrayed in it,' said Tlhaloganyo.

Brother Sthini (20) started singing when he was still a pupil at Moses Mengwe Junior School in Maitengwe. There he would perform at the school's talent shows and it was through him being the school's Disc Jockey that he nurtured his knowledge in music.  'When I finished my Form 3 I was able to join the late music legendary Donald Botshelo's crew after he was introduced to him in 2009 by his music mentor Major Mojudo.  When they realised that I had talent Don B advised me to sing and work on releasing an album,' he said.  Touching on the other six tracks featured on the album that were recorded at Mme Records in Francistown he said one song, Gaolathe, talks about a young boy who is en-route to changing his life by making his career a success through entertainment. 

'Gaolathe talks about me as an artist.  I recorded the song as a reminder of how my life was,' he said.  In Tanki Morena, the artist thanks God for his God-given talent and the strength he has.  The fourth track, called Botshelo, talks about the challenges one goes through in life as a student.  All the songs on the album have a message that the artist wishes to communicate with his listeners, and it is worth a listen to yet another budding motswana musician.
