St Josephs PTA appeals to minister

During the meeting, parents raised concerns over their budgetary constraints which have affected the food rations at the school. They explained that because of the high numbers of learners, they regularly experience food shortages. They further informed the minister that this year, most classrooms have 46 learners, which is burdensome for teachers. 'We therefore ask you to consider employing teaching assistants to reduce the burden,' one parent said.

Another complaint was that teachers who are transferred from the school take too long to vacate staff houses, creating conflicts with new teachers. Ill discipline was also raised as a concern at the Catholic mission school. The PTA emphasised the need for learners to adhere to the college's dress code.

The parents decried the school's transport system because of which students often get home late in the evenings.'We would like you to ask the Minister of Transport to consider assisting us with transport that can pick our students up to and from school daily,' said another parent.Minister Venson-Moitoi promised to attend to the PTA members' grievances.
