Nthomiwa worried about mal perception of judiciary

 

PAC member Samson Guma Moyo had previously said perceptions are stronger than facts, saying people are beginning to view the judiciary as political.'Judgments have come under scrutiny. What are you doing to counter that?' questioned Moyo. Another PAC member had asked Nthomiwa if his department is not worried about growing perceptions. Recently, Nthomiwa exchanged some blows in the media with Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) after the latter labelled some judges as 'executive minded'. In response, Nthomiwa said BOFEPUSU's statement bordered on contempt of court. He accused BOFEPUSU of personal and disrespectful attacks against members of the judiciaryThe exchange took place after the Court of Appeal panel of five judges ruled in favour of government in a case involving dismissed public sector employees.
