Orapa United juggernaut continues

TONOTA: Tumelo Mazebedi was once again in top form as BeMobile Premier League bound Orapa United FC produced a sensational performance to dispatch Tonota FC 5-1 in an absorbing Debswana First Division North League tie at Rutwang JSS grounds on Saturday.

The victory saw Nchime 'Mainstay' Modise's charges taking their points tally to 49, 12 more than second placed FC Satmos who have two games in hand. Ostiches, as Orapa United are affectionately known in football circles, produced an outstanding performance through Mazebedi to earn the victory.

Mazebedi scored a brace before creating the other three goals as part of a man-of-the-match performance that earned him a standing ovation from the opposition faithful. Both sides started the game like a house on fire. But it was the visitors who found the back of the net first through Thato Ganetsang.

A composed Ganetsang received a pass from Mazebedi right in the box and picked a spot to beat a towering Thabiso Philimon between the sticks for the hosts.After the goal, Tonota FC launched several attacks.In the process, the home side was awarded three consecutive free kicks after forcing the visitors' backline to commit mistakes but the hosts failed to utilise the set pieces.

While Tonota FC had sent a lot of bodies upfront in search of goals, Orapa gained possession in their half and launched a counter attack. Simon Mashadza gained possession and found Mazebedi upfront. Mazebedi received the pass before using his speed and skill to volley the ball above an advancing Philimon in the 27th minute.

The goal gave the visitors some more energy to launch more attacks on the home side.Two minutes later, Mazebedi connected well with a Buyani Mbulawa telling cross from the left flank to head the ball home to make it 3-0. But the undeterred Tonota FC increased the pace in search of goals. In the 43rd minute,

Pontsho Sephatho scored a beautiful goal after releasing a pile drive from about 35 metres away. In the second half both sides adopted a cautious approach. The visitors managed to add two more goals through Opelo Godfrey Lopang Mosigi to earn an emphatic victory.
