BOCCIM targets 100 exhibitors

BOCCIM is however targeting 100 exhibitors at this year's fair, which will begin on May 29 ending on June 1, 2013.This was revealed by BOCCIM's public relations and marketing officer Patience Lebotse on Monday, in an interview with Mmegi Business. This year's event is themed, Unlocking Opportunities to a Successful Citizen Participation in the Economy of Botswana.'So far we have 75 businesses from various sectors that have registered to take part at this year's fair. We are expecting the number to reach 100, which is our target as the fair inches closer,' she said.She also noted that they have invited some companies and business personalities from Swaziland and South Africa to take part at this year's fair.

'Some of the businesses from the said countries have indicated that they will not be part of the fair but we are hopeful that those who have not responded will give us positive feedback,' Lebotse said.Last year's exhibition attracted businesses from Pakistan, Kenya and Zambia. The Swedish Trade Council also exhibited at last year's fair.Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) CEO Paul Taylor will officiate at the event on May 31. Gates will open to the members of the public after the official opening until the last day of the fair.The BOCCIM Trade Fair, which is held annually, last year also attracted 100 businesses that exhibited their products.

The fair, which began in 1994, is held annually to promote networking among businesses. It is held at the BOCCIM showgrounds at Gerald Estates.Since its inception, the fair has attracted thousands of members of the public who are treated to a wide range of business stalls ranging from manufacturing to hospitality, media, agriculture, banking and agriculture.The fair is arguably among the biggest events in Francistown.
