Finale's Phenomenon on the cards

The young rapper already has an introductory mixtape titled I Am Finale selling in the market.The Tutume-bred musician already boasts of being the only local musician to have done a video with a Czech artist.He did a video for the song We Made It with Czech's top Hip hop star Ji_’ Sker _koda. The video, in which the man popularly known as Sker sings in his local language, has hundreds of hits on You Tube.

'This is like the album before my actual debut album. Tracks such as Flee Fly and We Made It will be bonus tracks to the EP and the official first single to the EP will be Flee Fly Remix featuring ATI, Ozi F Teddy, PK Maada J,' Finale told Showbiz.

On the involvement of Sker in his video, he said: 'Our relationship has grown in such a way that Skeris like a big brother to me; his involvement on my music video was more than what my words can explain. He did an awesome work.'

Finale is happy with the response he got from local music fans after putting up his mixtape on various platforms on the Internet.'The market is competitive and I was not expecting this much of a reception considering that I am an independent artist. And clearly numbers don't lie with the number of single plays and downloads through my official Sound Cloud and Reverb Nation pages, I can safely say I am more than pleased by the numbers,' he added.

Based on his experience with the mixtape, he is convinced that selling online is the best possible way to cut piracy.'Our music industry has grown and we embrace the idea of selling online. There is quality music but I think we have a lot of more quantity because of too much free music downloads in Botswana instead of utilising facilities such as i-tunes, Amazon and Nokia Ovi stores to sell our music and artist can make money for their hard work and that's our biggest weakness to competing with international artists and professionalism is still something I feel is lacking.'

Finale writes most of the songs he records. He explained that he was trying to be as authentic and original as possible.
