Ramonyaku headed for Malaysia again

He continues to enjoy the international limelight and will be participating in the same event next month .Sekgee led Ditshimega to exhibit Tswana traditional music and dance skills at the 2008 Borneo Cultural festival in East Malaysia.

The festival is an annual cultural event featuring indigenous cultures but often individuals and groups from other cultures outside the Asian country are invited to take part.He did not attend the same event in 2010 because of financial constraints.  Ramonyaku, who is best remembered for his role in the Triple R's Banyana Ba ko Malotwaneng, recently released his solo Letlotla la ga Khama hit and looks destined to shake the industry as asolo act. 'I am hopeful that this time around I will be able to make enough and that individuals and companies will be willing to sponsor my trip.

The organisers of this event pay for everything except travel,' he said.Recollecting the 2008 trip, Ramonyaku said that it was fulfilling and empowering as well although at first he thought Malays were racists.'When we arrived at the airport people were looking at us in a strange way and I thought that was because they looked down upon us but only to find that some people there had not seen black people before.

Once they had greeted us I realised it was out of curiosity and they were very friendly throughout the whole month,' Ramonyaku said, 'There was a group from Nigeria and another one from Ghana and another Aboriginal group from Australia and see all these people showcasing their culture was eye-opening.

But what was more fulfilling for me was the way people were fascinated by our own attire, music and dance. We were even invited to meet high profile government officials while there and I believe we represented Botswana very well,' he said.
