Wonder will be tough nuts to crack - Mogwadi

The Wonder boys gained automatic promotion on Saturday after winning their last match of the season in the lower division against Masitaoka. Many teams have struggled to compete in their first seasons in the Premier League after promotion, but Mogwadi says his side will be no pushover for other Premier League giants. He said he is happy with his squad going into top-flight football.

The team boasts former Police XI players, Farasai Nyamunamwendo, Dennis Kaelo, Betsho Pius, Clarkson Dzimbiri and Jackson Legodi. They also have former Gaborone United (GU) defender, Boitumelo 'Bashin' Modisaotsile on their books. The players joined Wonder Sporting after Police XI lost their affiliation with the Botswana Football Association (BFA). When the players arrived at the team, they found an already promising team boasting the likes of former Zebras forward, Duncan Kgopolelo as well as Katlego Masole and Lebone Mothao among others. 'I have a balanced team right from the defence to the striking force. I have a pool of good players even on the bench. I do not even have to scratch my head if one or two players get injured,' he said.  Against Masitaoka, Mogwadi started off with a very strong attacking line-up. Kgopolelo played as the main striker with Nyamunamwendo and Dzimbiri joining him from wings. Kaelo, who normally plays as a central attacking midfielder, was relegated to the bench and Pius filled the position and did a fantastic job against determined Masitaoka players. For the better part of the season, Wonder stayed at the summit of the log standings. They lost their position in the middle of the season following a series of draws that saw Jwaneng Comets get to the top.

However, they returned to form and reclaimed the top spot. Comets needed Wonder to lose their match against Masitaoka while they needed to beat Modipane United to finish on top. It was not to be, as Wonder crushed Masitaoka. Comets lost to Modipane United, finishing runners-up. 'We started the race and we had to finish it. I did not even want to think about how Comets were doing against Modipane United. We had to finish the job ourselves,' Mogwadi said. All is not lost for Comets though.  They will play two matches against a team that will finish second in the First Division North in the promotional play-offs. FC Satmos are currently holding that position with Orapa United leading the pack.
