Platinum Stars confirm new Dambe deal

The former Township Rollers shot-stopper has penned a two-year deal with the Rustenburg outfit. Dambe moved to Stars at the start of the just-ended season on a season's loan deal. Despite spending much of the 2012/13 season on the periphery, Dambe has been given the deal that will keep him at Stars until June 2015.  Confirming the arrangement, Johnson said he was happy with the player's progress and believes he has a bright future. He observed, however, that the talented goal-minder needs to put on a bit of weight.

'Kabelo has been on loan with us and has been given another chance. We are very happy with what Kabelo has done for us, hence the new deal,' Johnson told Mmegi Sport in a telephone interview. He believes the former youth international has a bright future. 'He's about 23, he still has age on his side especially considering he is a goalkeeper. He has much potential; he just needs to put on a bit of weight,' said Johnson.

Dambe starred in four ABSA Premiership games and conceded three goals. He played against Chippa United (1-1), Maritzburg United (2-0), Golden Arrows (1-2) and SuperSport United (3-0).

He featured in the Nedbank Cup semi-final game against SuperSport United which his side lost 2-3.Johnson admits they may not be able to keep their most prized possession and former Santos and Township Rollers striker Mogakolodi Ngele, who shone like a beacon in the Nedbank Cup match for the Rustenburg club.

Many clubs are expected to come knocking for his signature. 'We are not that worried about Tsotso because he has a deal with us until 2015. But if we get a club that will give us some good money, we may let him go,' he said. Ngele capped a fine season with his 10th goal in Sunday's 3-0 win. The result means that for the second time in their PSL history, Dikwena finish as runners-up in the 16-team competition.
