Lack of confidence hurting Police VI men

This was Ngwanaotsile's assessment following his outfit's 1-3 defeat with the Diphatsa men's Volleyball Club on Saturday morning at the BDF Area S courts in Francistown during the ongoing Mascom Men's Volleyball League 2013. Prior to the ongoing league, Police VI introduced some more revered volleyball players into the club in a move aimed at transforming the side into championship winning side.

Lee Tsipana and Topo Mogopo, former BDF VI players, joined Police early this year together with Oteng Hendrick from Kalavango. As if that was not enough, Police VI also signed outside attacker in Tshepo Iketeng from Mafolofolo.According to Ngwanaotsile, all this was done to beef up the club and be counted among the best volleyball sides in the country. In fact, Ngwanaotsile said the club's intention is to claim the championships this season. But his main worry is that the beefed up Police VI side is king like failing to match the likes of BDF VI and Diphatsa. Police VI managed to collect a point from the first round encounter against BDF VI after later won the match 3-2.

On Saturday morning, another army side in Diphatsa beat the police side 3-1. In their game against Diphatsa, Police VI made it a point that the home side would not win the match on a silver platter. The first set ended 25-23 in favour of the hosts before Diphatsa claimed the second set again winning it 25-20. Police VI came back strongly in the third set and won it 25-22. The victory raised some confidence at the bench. But the players failed to execute the same strategy in the fourth set. In the deciding set, Diphatsa played like true champions and win the set 25-17.

'The boys become a little bit desperate during the game. And under such circumstances, one can easily make mistakes,' said Ngwanaotsile. He said the players are not usually listening to his instructions because of lack of confidence and desperation to win against a giant.'The boys are not really confident,' he said adding that the players need to be motivated in order for them to be confidence.Ngwanaotsile said he would persuade the management to be always attending training sessions and hold short meetings with the players to motivate them.Meanwhile, Diphatsa head coach Leabaneng George praised his boys for their continued hard work. He said his side has been together for a fairly long time and the players now understand one each other very well.
