Kgotla forms church, undecided about music career

Speaking to Showbiz, the artist who dropped a bombshell last year by announcing that he is quitting secular music for good, asserted he left God's Way Ministries early this year to start his own ministry.'I was ordained as a minister towards the end of last year and as I had insinuated in an earlier interview, I left God's Way Ministries to form Word Impact in February this year. All I can say at the moment is that I am enjoying every moment working for God, although needless to say, establishing a ministry is a serious challenge,' the Matshidiso hit-maker said.According to the former Afro-pop artist, the headquarters of the ministry are at Gaborone West Industrial Site where he is currently busy establishing his new divine assignment.

Kgotla said one of the things that he is doing at Word Impact is grooming a praise and worship team that he wants to meet international standards.Quizzed if he ever sings at his church he said: 'Well, I am a worshipper and I sing time and again at church. The thing is, I am still waiting upon the Lord to guide me when it comes to being a commercial artist.'Kgotla said of late, he has been greatly inspired by the likes of jazz diva Judith Sephuma, who recently has interestingly ventured into gospel, and the king of South Africa contemporary gospel, Benjamin Dube.Before dumping the secular scene, Kgotla was widely expected to release a follow-up Afro-pop album.

The former artist joins a long list of local artists who have recently professed their Christianity, one of them being Odirile 'Vee' Sento who is due to release a gospel album soon. Although he declined to mention it, Showbiz can safely say if he were to release a follow-up album, it would be a gospel one.
