And how prophetic it has turned out to be as social networks have been abuzz for the past two weeks with O'Neal Madumo's name pitted as the Botswana representative. Well known through his weekday radio show Zibanani Live that has seen him become a household name, DJ O'Neal walked the BBA stage and ended the speculation. Before going to the BBA house O'Neal resigned and bid farewell to his listeners.
He however did not reveal any linkages with BBA. Prior to his departure to the BBA house, the radio personality and TV host had denied through various media that he would be the one representing Botswana. On going into the house the 33-year-old O'Neal was given a hero's welcome as he was serenaded with a birthday song for his birthday which was the following day on Monday. The other representative Motamma Sesinyi came as a total surprise as she had been a well kept secret. Dressed in a white gown, the overly energetic Sesinyi staged an entrance with the Botswana flag draped over her right arm. Sesinyi is the current Miss Tourism Botswana and was a runner-up in the Miss Universe Botswana pageant last year. At the time of going to the BBA house Sesinyi was pursuing a Masters Degree in Science at Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA).
There are two houses in the game this year, the Ruby and the Diamond. O'Neal is in the Ruby house while Motamma is in the Diamond. BBA is in its eighth season this year and has 28 housemates from 14 countries, each with two representatives. Contestants will spend a total of 91 days as they compete for the $US300,000 prize money. Big Brother Africa airs on DSTV channels 197 and 198. The first eviction from the house will take place this coming Sunday evening.
