Cricket U-19 squad off to Kampala

The team consists of 14 players and will fly to the Ugandan capital via Nairobi, Kenya.Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) secretary for fixtures and publicity, Sumod Damodar, said that the tournament is an eight-nation event, which will be played in two groups from May 25 to June 1.

Participating nations include Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Tanzania, hosts Uganda, and Zambia. The teams are divided into two pools, which were determined by the 2010 log of the same competition.

Botswana is in Pool B with Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Kenya. Botswana open the series on Saturday against Kenya before taking on Nigeria the following day. They conclude the preliminary round against Sierra Leone on Monday.

The team have roped in Johan Rudolph as a consultant coach to work with head coach, Arjun Menon.The winner of the tournament will proceed straight to the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).Meanwhile, there will be a four-nation women's tournament in August involving Namibia, Swaziland and Mozambique.
