Orapa only three points away from title

Nicknamed The Ostriches, Orapa is in pole position to clinch the Debswana First Division North League title and gain automatic promotion to the biggest league in the land.Orapa is still on top of the log table with four games remaining. The club from the diamond-mining township of Orapa is leading second placed FC Satmos by a whooping 15 points.

Although the Mooketsi 'China' Mading owned side has got two games in hand, Orapa needs only three points to claim the league title.FC Satmos will accumulate a total of 55 points if they win all their remaining six games while Orapa need three points from the remaining four. And if Orapa wins their coming game against Two-Two-Five at Senete village over the weekend, they will be crowned winners.

Orapa, who are currently sitting on the summit of the log table with 52 points, has got a superior goal difference over their nearest rivals, FC Satmos. Mading and his charges will require at least 14 goals to be at par with the pacesetters.

'It is not over until it's over,' said the Orapa head coach, Nchime 'Mainstay' Modise. The little known Modise had his feet firmly rooted to the ground throughout the season despite having gone for a record 17 games without a loss.

Modise has drawn only a game out of the 18 outings. It is his guidance that led to The Ostriches being consistent and getting results. They have managed to win the games under difficult circumstances. Clubs from the First Division North League have complained of biased refereeing by match officials in Maun and Kasane.

But Modise and his charges have defied the odds. They have gone to Maun and Kasane and won all their games. So supporters are sure that Modise will wave his magic wand and seal victory. However, Two-Two-Five have vowed to make it difficult for them. Rivonia Makwate, the club founder and head coach, said his boys would fight to the last man to ensure that they become the first team to tame the seemingly invincible Orapa.'Orapa is not unbeatable,' declared Makwate adding that his boys are motivated by the fact that they want to be the first team to gun down The Ostriches.
