Moathodi applauds teachers

Moathodi, who is also the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, was speaking at the Ministry of Education and Skills Development's Central Region excellence award ceremony that was held at the Tonota Bus Rank recently.Moathodi said teachers hold special places in the lives of every human being in the global village.'As a people of the African continent, we are able to communicate with each other and with other people in other continents because teachers of this world at one stage or another ably inculcated in us the desire to read and write,' said Moathodi.

Moathodi reminded teachers to believe in themselves because they made it possible for all people; even those serving in highly placed positions. He said echelons of the society have successfully gone through teacher's commitment as well as devoted hands.'Believe it or not, lack of most of the important resources needed to make the teaching field tick, do not continue to de-motivate our teachers. Today's event confirms your commitment to your work,' he said. Moathodi also reserved special mention in his speech for the teachers' organisations that converged in Francistown a few years ago resolved to donate a house to a family of 17 orphans at Semotswane village.

'There are still many, more orphans as well as destitute who remain hopeful that this excellence award ceremony shall leave them properly and confidently housed. I thank you teachers and let God bless you in your work,' said Moathodi.Held under the theme  'promoting excellent performance through partnership'  the awards saw 937 learners, teachers as well as education officers who contributed to the 2012 results being recognised. Recipients were given trophies, certificates and money in appreciation of their efforts.

The Ministry's Regional Director, Molebi Morolong, also heaped praise on teachers for their commitment, passion and for educating the nation, and encouraged them to continue with the good work.
