Valentine's day hits F/town stores

As for the stores, they are filled with a variety of gifts that are specially meant for the day with romantic scents enveloping the rooms leaving the place in a sentimental mood.The Monitor interviewed store owners and employees about business during the Month of Love, especially that they have filled their stores with the goodies for celebration on February 14.Pelontle Manyanga (31) an employee at Linda's Florist in the village mall said that during the month of February business flourishes because love is everywhere.

'Valentine's Day is significant and special in our store and we always go all out to make sure that everything is set for the day. The store would be filled with gifts that portray messages of love,' she said.She said that in the store they sell fresh flowers and a variety of gifts relevant to Valentine's Day. At the time of writing customers were already placing orders in large numbers.Manyanga said that they sell flowers in bunches, either mixed or according to the customers' specifications. In a nutshell, roses are in great demand. She also said that red is the colour of the moment as it is associated with Valentine's Day. She told The Monitor that between February 12-13, the store is always abuzz with smiling and happy customers who have come to pick gifts for their loved ones.She added that people tend to express how they feel with a bouquet of flowers for their Valentines. They feel that flowers convey just the right message and they (customers) would also personalise gifts for whoever they would be handing them to.

'During this time it is very busy and customers would buy as individuals and the corporate world would also send in orders. Some even buy extra flowers for the people,' she said with a smile.Makhanya Mosadi (30) of Blue-Bells Florist said that this would be their first February since their store opened late last year, but she is very excited because already cstomer's orders are promising.'In the store we sell fresh flowers, gifts such as teddy-bears, cups with love messages on them and even cards that would give out melodious sounds when they are opened,' she said.Mosadi said that since it is the first time, he is expecting a lot since customers are already placing orders of bouquets while some have promised to buy on February 13.Self-employed Seako Nelson (33) said that Valentine's Day is a special day where most couples show how much they love each other.'I sell gifts for Valentine's Day in my stall and my clients are so excited. You just have to see the twinkle in their eye as they place orders for their loved ones.

'During this time I make a lot of money because even teenagers buy cards,' she said.Furthermore she said that she could not ask for any better month to run business but wishes that Valentine's Day could be everyday so that her business could blossom.'People should show their Valentines that they are the most romantic partner that she or he has ever met. 'We get to mix and match clothes and the flowers to create a bouquet that fits their Valentine and their feelings perfectly,' she advised.
