Panasonic Botswana reassures stakeholders

Founded in 1996 and appointed as a franchise-holder for Panasonic Systems Company in Botswana, the company had been trading as Panasonic Business Systems but has re-branded to Pan Solutions. However, Nwako explained that the new look might not be the re-branding in the truest sense, since they have chosen to fall in line with the rest of the distribution network, a move meant to bring about synergies in marketing and technical backup leveraged by the network.

With the company eager to be the leader in automation and Information, Communication Technology (ICT) products, Nwako revealed that Panasonic Business Systems has become 100 percent citizen-owned since Panasonic South Africa established a presence in Botswana. 'A growth that has meant that the company establishes a wide range of Panasonic products in Botswana,' he said.Nwako emphasised that Pan Solutions is determined to create employment for more Batswana and improve its dealership with top of the range ICT solutions within the network and manufacturers. For his part, Ministry of Trade and Industry's Deputy Permanent Secretary for Corporate Services, Golebe Lekula, said he was briefed that the company had always wanted to re-brand and be up to date with the demands of ICT market.

'It is clear that Pan Solutions is taking advantage of the enabling legislative and regulatory framework that the government has created not only to grow business but to also create employment,' he added. He further said the recently passed Botswana Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Bill was meant to facilitate private sector participation in the growth of the economy, with particular focus on ICT and telecommunications.Lekula explained that the Act creates a more conducive environment for ICT sector growth, as it provides a converged regulator that should also bring efficiencies to the sector and ultimately have a positive impact on the economy.
