Botswana ears fo ICC-ACA event

Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) fixtures secretary, Sumod Damor said the winners of the 12-nation event will qualify for the World League to be staged in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) in November. The World League is contested by two winners from America, Africa, Europe, Asia and East Asia Pacific (EAP). The other two will be picked from the bottom teams of the list of full members. Damor said that the top four in Dubai event would play in the T-20 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2014.  Botswana national team coach, Arjun Menon said that preparations for the Uganda tournament are going on well. He did not reveal the names of players in the team but said he will maintain the usual squad with a few minor changes. These changes are necessary to make sure that the team will adapt to the climatic conditions in Uganda. He said that Karabo Modise who is in South Africa for studies will be part of the team because he is a very key player and a good captain. He said they have arranged with a South African side to give him game time to keep him fit.

The coach said that his charges have not played Kenya and Uganda who are better than Botswana, hence the need to up their game. He stated that Botswana has played Nigeria and Tanzania several times.
