FRANCISTOWN: An early goal from a goalkeeper's howler and missed chances were the major highlights of the First Division North League encounter between Amakhosi FC and Sua Flamingoes FC at the Francistown Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The two sides remained deadlocked after a bruising duel played in blistering heat. Amakhosi appeared poised to finish off the game in the first half after finding an early goal through a well-taken set piece by the deadly Jacob Olefile, but Wame Sitidi found the equaliser with 15 minutes before the final whistle.
Flamingoes' goalkeeper, Ontiretse Moalosi failed to communicate well with his defence, allowing Olefile's free-kick to go in at the far post. Spurred by the early goal, the home side played with purpose in the first half. Olefile led the Amakhosi onslaught in most cases but Moalosi pulled some brilliant saves to deny the home side victory. The acrobatic goalkeeper improved his communication skills and managed to quickly arrange his backline to frustrate opposition attack. Amakhosi could have doubled the lead in the 31st minute, but Moalosi came to the rescue by punching another curling ball from Olefile over the bar. By the break, Amakhosi led 1-0. In the second half, Flamingoes came back a changed side and dominated their opponents. They created several chances but failed to find the back of the net due to the acrobatics of the Amakhosi custodian..
