F/town Bowls Club wins tourney

The tournament is first of the five-game series for 2013.  Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) spokesperson, John Gaborutwe told Mmegi Sport that each tournament won under auspices of BBA collects points towards the Haskins Trophy that is awarded at the end of the year for the overall winners.  Gaborutwe said that the trophy was named after the former national bowling legend, Jimmy Haskins in recognition of the immense contribution he has made to the sport in Botswana both as a member of BBA and Francistown Bowls Club.

He explained that Phikwe Bowls Club and the Francistown C team secured the pole position of the year's campaign by thrashing Gaborone C team by thundering 35 shots to five and Phikwe by 27 to 14 shots before succumbing to Jwaneng B by 12 to 17 shots.The Francistown team was reinforced by reigning women's youth champion, Elsie-Anne Armstrong, who played as lead and had a brilliant performance. Patrick Armstrong played second position with Daiyaan Mahomed playing third position and Chairman Hassen skipped the team. Gaborutwe said that the Gaborone club was dethroned and became runners-up through Gaborone B team made up of Tim Morton who played as skip with Eddi Redinger playing third position.

Ivy Morton and Pauline Lekone (reigning women's Masters champion) played positions second and lead respectively.The third place went to Jwaneng A team that comprised Boitumelo Mosinyi (skip), Gasegarona Pabalelo (third), Adam (second) and Mpopi Pelemo (lead).
