Cricket side stutter against Nigeria

 

Nigeria won the toss and chose to field before bowling perfectly to reduce their opponents to 123 for 5 in the allotted 20overs.

Only captain, Karabo Modise provided resistance a a blistering 86 from 64 balls.  He was the only Botswana batsmen to hit double figures as the innings never got the much needed impetus. Joshua Ogunlola was the pick of the Nigerian bowlers with a return of 2wickets for 15 runs from four overs.

Nigeria made light work of the total, reaching the victory targeting in the 17th over for the loss of three wickets.  Dotun Olatunji, who hit 67 from 43 balls pipped Modise to the man-of-the-match award.

It was a big blow for Botswana's World Cup aspirations as the top two teams from the group progress to a penultimate round in Asia. The winners qualify for the 2014 T20 World Cup which Bangladesh hosts. The team was scheduled to play Kenya and Uganda yesterday. Tanzania is the other team in the tournament played on a round robin basis.
