T-Izzy club bangers in the making

The blossoming DJ has already put out the first single, a re-jigged Stampore's Re Batswana. He has titled the track Re Banana and a plucky ATI (Atlasaone Molemogi).  The song is purely an expression of patriotism and pride in being young Batswana in Botswana.

'This is a song that we came together as young people and put together to motivate other young people in Botswana,' T-Izzy told Showbiz. Following the Re Banana feat, the talented jock will soon release the next single That's My Jam.  'It's the next single. It's the first and last song I'm going to rap in,' he added.

He explained he is not out to confuse people but wants to stick to what he primarily does. The mix-tape idea stems from his realisation of the need to make club bangers for local sets. 'The reason we don't play much of the local stuff is there are no club bangers, when we play local stuff people do not respond because they are not club bangers,' he said.

He targets end of 2013 for the release.'I'm honestly taking my time, I'm hoping to release by the end of this year.' He has roped in rappers who are fairly new in the game in the mould of Dramaboi (Thuto Rampaleng) and Marked Men duo of Chub Heightz (Kopano Coangae) and Vaughan 'VH' Mutambara.

'I worked with guys who are fairly new.  I could have gone for your big name artists but the guys I chose are my contemporaries,' said the 24-year-old.  Chub Heightz is excited about working with him.

'I have known him for a long time and I am convinced this was the right time for him to do the mixtape. I'm excited about being part of the project and I think there might just be a surprise feature from his side on the song,' Chub Heightz said.

T-Izzy has been deejaying for three years and described the experience in one word - awesome.  He quickly added: 'What I like about it is there's always a new challenge.  It's not going to the office every day, sometimes I have outdoor events, and I've even gone on to play at events in South Africa.'  He picks on his gig in Mafikeng at Swagger Nite Club last year as the highlight of his career.

The UB dropout already has two awards under his belt and sucks up assurance from those that he made the right move.  He won the 2012 Best Radio Presenter for the annual MISA awards as well the Vision 2016 award under the pillar of a 'United and proud nation'.

'It's one of the things that give a sense of reassurance; I have to keep working hard to achieve my dreams.'He dropped halfway into his Bachelor of Science Degree to pursue his passion.  Despite the steady progress in deejaying and radio, he insists education is important.

He holds an AAT qualification.  T-Izzy has become synonymous with Sunday's African Hip Hop show Scramble4Africa between 6pm and 8pm.

The vernal DJ also presents The Bridge on Yarona fm from Monday to Friday.  He also intends to reach out to talented youngsters through his talent management company, Ace of Diamonds.
