Notwane deny reports on Moyo

The reports said that Toronto will replace Moyo with his compatriot and former Zimbabwe national team coach Charles Mhlauri.

But Notwane spokesperson, Cyras Mogashoa said that they do not intend to fire Moyo at this time. 'That is news to me. We have made an agreement with the coach that because he now has (good) players, he should deliver. We want to give him a chance and review his performance at a later stage. Let me make it clear that it is not our style at Notwane to fire and hire coaches,' he told Mmegi Sport. Mogashoa said that the onus is on the coach to perform and their ambition now is to win the Coca-Cola Cup as the league and Kabelano Cup have eluded them.

Whether it is true or not that Moyo's job hangs in the balance, only time will tell. But in Mhlauri, Notwane would have found a youthful but competent coach. The dreadlocked tactician is credited with taking Zimbabwe to the African Cup of Nations for the first time in 2006 after years of failure by other more fancied coaches.

Information reaching Mmegi Sport indicates that Notwane officials are not impressed by Moyo's performance. They feel that with the talent at his disposal, he should deliver silverware. Notwane chairman Molebatsi Molebatsi has always made it clear that he wants to win things and does not want to play second fiddle. Recently, Moyo came under heavy criticism after losing to the seemingly invincible Mochudi Centre Chiefs during the Orange Kabelano Charity Cup. The performance of the team against Mogoditshane Fighters in the Coca-Cola Cup round of 32 is also said to have been below par, though they managed to scrape through. Notwane have signed a number of talented players like Tebogo Sembowa from ECCO City Greens, Jackie Mothatego from Uniao Flamengo Santos, Moreetsi Mosimanyana from Police XI and Nelson Sefhedile (TASC). Their latest recruit is goalkeeper Botufe Morula from the lower division. The young goalkeeper is said to have played a major role in the victory over Fighters in Tlokweng over the weekend. His arrival is expected to keep long-time first choice goalkeeper Mompoloki 'Wrist' Sephekolo on his toes.
