It is expected that Nare will temporarily hold the fort until Lwandamina arrives in two weeks' time. Nare's appointment comes after Gunners were humiliated thoroughly during the Four Teams Challenge Cup at the National Stadium last month. After the heavy defeats at the tournament, Gunners' officials admitted that they needed somebody with experience on the bench to wage battle.
Mapantsula were left without a coach after Clever Hunda resigned last month and Kenanao Ramaphoi was sent into the deep end. With less coaching experience, Ramaphoi was at times exposed when the going got tough. He has been accused of not instilling discipline in the team.
Gunners' communications officer Cassim Dada said yesterday that they have decided to hire Nare because he is an experienced coach. 'He is a caretaker for now, hopefully when the coach arrives, Nare will stay with the team and work with our coach. He (Nare) has gained experience with Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs,' said Dada. He added that they will give Nare the necessary support. Previously, Nare had been at Gunners but he left under acrimonious circumstances. 'In life, we have our shortcomings and the important thing is that we settle them and move on,' Dada explained.
Nare said that he is happy to have rejoined Gunners despite the differences they have had in the past. 'In football you do not hold grudges hence I have returned to Gunners. Lebo Seboni (Chiefs' manager) once left and came back. Now he is on the verge of winning the league with Chiefs and I hope to achieve good things with Gunners this time round,' said Nare.
He pleaded with Gunners' supporters to be patient as they work to turn the fortunes of the team around. 'What they (supporters) have to accept is that Gunners do not have the same quality as other sides,' he said. Nare who started work on Wednesday, will sit on the bench for the first time when Gunners take on Jwaneng Comets in a friendly game at Galaxy Stadium tonight. 'This will give us a chance to address some weaknesses in the team,' he said. Nare has coached BMC, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers.
