Moloi ordered back to Notwane

The young Moloi had resigned from the club and wanted to join Mascom Premier League leaders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

But Notwane would not relent, arguing that Moloi was on contract with their club until September this year.

The matter was taken to the Players' Status Committee (PSC) where Chiefs hoped that they would be given a chance to land multi-talented star. The dust was settled on Tuesday when the PSC ordered that the youngster return to Toronto and honour the contract.

Premier League Committee (PLC) secretary, Setete Phuthego confirmed that Moloi is still a Notwane player. 'He has a contract with Notwane and will continue playing for the club,' he said. Mmegi Sport has learnt that Notwane had asked for more than P30,000 for his services.

Notwane publicity officer James Mooki said that though they have not received any correspondence regarding the outcome, they are delighted that the player will remain in their stable until the end of the season. He said that the midfielder has a contract with Toronto until September, which is binding. 'His (Moloi)'s resignation came as a shock. We held negotiations with Chiefs but things did not go accordingly but it was not our fault,' he said. Mooki further pointed out that they were ready to release their star midfielder to Chiefs if they had followed the procedure of recruiting a player. 'The thing is that we have Dirang's welfare at heart and we want to protect him,' said the publicist. Chiefs' communications officer Clifford Mogomotsi said that they will respect any decision taken by PSC. He said that they still maintain that they have followed the right procedures to recruit Moloi. 'Our interest still remains,' he said.

It remains to be seen whether Moloi features for his club when they take on Extension Gunners at the National Stadium tomorrow night. The Zebras' midfielder is regarded as the best midfielder of his generation but some people have started to question his commitment to the club this season.

Still at the PSC hearing on Tuesday, Township Rollers and their attacking midfielder, Sekhana 'Nandos' Koko have been ordered to submit the original copy of the contract they agreed on in January last year.

Rollers and Koko are at loggerheads after the midfielder resigned from the club in a bid to join Chiefs. It is understood that after the player quit, Rollers claimed that they had a contract with Koko and demanded P25,000 for his release.

But the player stated that his contract ended on January 17 this year. Koko has not been training with Rollers for sometime and will have to wait until the final ruling is made next Tuesday.
