Astley Gops launch DVD

It is a compilation of live shows during the past festive season tour of places like Maun, Mmadinare and Palapye. RraThobane, as he is affectionately known, has also included clips of his music life in the DVD. He explained that the product shows who Astly Gops really is.

'I deliberately and strategically suspended the DVD shooting early last year because the album itself was still doing well on the market,' the Letlhakeng-born musician told Showbiz. He pointed out that he wanted the CD to sell first before he could embark on shooting the DVD of the same album. He did not want the DVD to collide with the CD in the same market as this was going to interrupt the sales of both products.

The musician, who has four albums to his credit, revealed that Sebakanyana has done well on the market and is happy with the outcome so far. Astly Gops has a wide and ever demanding market because if he is not performing at shows he is being booked for weddings.

'I am happy that my music is reaching my clientele very well and I still promise to give them more,' said the youthful Astley Gops who declined to disclose his exact age. He stated that he still has potential and capability in the music industry. He stated that he is eyeing the international market this year.

True to his words of hard work, Astley Gops has done a lot as far as the Afro Pop genre is concerned. His work can be seen in an up-coming group Marulelo, Mr Tagg and Arthur.
Astley Gops said he is delighted at having groomed many musicians who are now the cream of the industry. He has also worked with the likes of Kwasa-Kwasa muso Jeff Matheatau.

Apparently Astley Gops is assisting Mokorwana Traditional Group establish themselves in South Africa.  He is currently working on his fifth album, which should be released in a month's time.

The album, which is dubbed Realeboga, is strictly Afro Pop, though it has a single jazz track, revealed Astly Gops. He believes that the album will get the same mileage as his previous ones.
