CKGR mining puzzle

After all it is only some few months since the Government finished telling us that the relocation of Basarwa was nothing to do with mining, because there were no plans to mine in the reserve as the deposit at Gope was not worth mining.
Whereupon I read in Mmegi that De Beers has now sold its deposit to Gem Diamonds, who are proceeding with all possible speed to open the mine there. It is perplexing that for years the Government was telling us that there was nothing worth mining in CKGR, and now Gem Diamonds is proceeding at full speed. What else has the Government been telling us that is not true?
