Right back, Gabriel Bokhutlo, left back, Boniface Makolo and veteran defender, Cecil 'Lolo' Mosojane have been told they are surplus to requirements at Rollers club spokesperson, Molatlhegi Mangole said yesterday. Mangole told Mmegi Sport that as they bring in new players, they have to release some to meet the Premier League quota of 25.
Mosojane was not a regular last season and his release is no surprise. But the offloading of Bokhutlo and Makolo will come as a shocker to many.
The two formed the core of the Rollers' team last season and starred in the historic achievements of the national Under-23 side.
'Of course they formed the core of the team last season and they have also done well from this team, but we needed fresh legs for the coming season,' Mangole said. Rollers have so far signed more than five players including Terrence Mandaza from TASC, Owen Molato from Extension Gunners, Mohamed Chawila from TAFIC, Timothy Phiri from Boteti Young Fighters, Anthony Matengu as well as Miscellaneous duo, Jomo Mgadla and Innocent Siku. Mangole revealed that they are still looking for about two or three players before the transfer window closes.
He quashed recent media reports that coach Dickson Ngwenya faces the sack for failing to produce good results.
He said these are speculations that come when a team is not doing well and people start thinking about what the management will do about the coach. Meanwhile, Rollers hammered Letlapeng FC 4-0 in a friendly match in Ramotswa on Saturday. Rollers are preparing for a Coca Cola clash with Mochudi Buffaloes in under two weeks. Buffaloes defeated Mochudi Centre Chiefs 5-3 in a build-up match at their ground in Mochudi.
