Bank Gaborone has launched the Card-2-Card instant payment solution, which allows customers to instantly send money to a trusted partner with a Botswana issued debit and/or credit card.

Card-2-Card is a feature in the bank’s newly enhanced Mobile Banking App. To access Card-2-Card, Bank Gaborone customers can download the app from any Android-powered device.

After downloading the app from Google Play, customers will then be required to enter their mobile app credentials. Both the app and e-Pula Personal online have the same login credentials. For every transaction carried out, approval will be required using the customer's card PIN. This was done to provide customers with a safe and secure banking experience

Speaking during the launch, Bank Gaborone managing director Sybrand Coetzee said the app has evolved since its introduction to the market in 2019. For the customers’ peace of mind, the security features have been enhanced to include Card-2-Card and its transacting ability has been approved by the Bank of Botswana.

“It was through our customers’ feedback that we were able to create a very affordable, smart, secure and convenient solution with fewer clicks to enable effortless transacting. The bank’s drive to provide innovative solutions to its customers allows us to partner with them to co-create services which empower them to have greater control of their finances,” he said.

Card-2-Card is powered by VISA and is currently being utilised in multiple countries in Africa such as Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania.
