Government appoints acting CEO at BTO

Dithebe replaces Myra Sekgororoane who parted ways with the parastatal at the end of last year after serving the organisation for eight years.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Neil Fitt told Mmegi:"We have advertised the post and would like to appoint someone as quickly as we can." Fitt also revealed that the board of BTO had been appointed but could not say their names. "I am not sure if people have been notified of their appointments and in that regard I cannot reveal their names,"he said. Dithebe comes in when the tourism industry recorded some remarkable growth in 2013. After a rigorous marketing campaign in the industry, domestic tourism hit a million mark last year. Statistics also point out that the growth of tourist's arrivals since 1994 has averaged 10.1% per annum. The BTO also held the inaugural Botswana Travel and Tourism Expo (BTTE) in Kasane on 26th-28th of November last year. The expo received confirmation of 81 European tourism operators and nine travel Journalists.
