Fashion statement: KM SALES is eyeing further growth in the market

KM SALES is proving to be a success story, a new kid in the block that is lifting itself up by the bootstraps. Established in 2019 by Koketso Motswagole, KM SALES is a fast growing fashion outlet ready to assert itself in the retail clothing space and growing to be a formidable force.

“As a tenderfoot, we are ready to be more than just a clothing store but a home brand store that families can trust for their every need,” Motswagole told Business Monitor.

Motswagole, who is the maverick behind the retail store, said his zeal to start the business was sparked by the dire situation of poverty back home. “When I was starting tertiary, my parents couldn’t even afford to give me transport money. “I had to be innovative and start a business.” The resolute entrepreneur started with just selling phones in his freshman year, using social media to advertise. Now he has raised up a fashion brand selling both clothes and electronics.

“Our business has thrived thus far because of the bedrock of trust we have built through making sure we deliver the highest quality at an affordable price to our customers,” said Motswagole. KM SALES has enjoyed robust market traction and grown from just three customers in 2019 to being a leading locally-owned fashion store in the country.

As an upcoming, spirited entrepreneur, Motswagole stresses that the brand anchors on principles of boldness and tenacity to pursue growth despite all odds. He further mentioned that these principles have been key in keeping the business sane and headed towards the right direction despite operating in a market yet to be delved into by many Batswana.

Speaking of KM SALES’ competitive advantage, Motswagole said he believes what sets his business apart from other stores, is that it has a solid understanding of the fashion trends in Botswana and is best suited to be responsive to all fashion trends and changes. Like any enterprise, KM SALES has not been spared from experiencing hiccups.

According to Motswagole, one of the main challenges has been the failure to have a prime location, which has disturbed the flow of their business model. “Currently we don’t have a walk-in store and this is a great disadvantage as we miss out on the walk-in customer market,” he said. The entrepreneur, however, remains resolute and confident that with time KM SALES will grow beyond expectations.

Khama, Serogola should find each other

Khama’s announcement to take over as Kgosikgolo was met with jubilation by some, but it also exposed deep-seated divisions. The Bogosi Act, which clearly states that a Mothusa Kgosi cannot be removed without the minister’s involvement, serves as a crucial legal safeguard. This law is designed to prevent arbitrary decisions and ensure stability within traditional leadership structures. The tension between Khama and Serogola has been simmering...
