Mooki told BusinessWeek that Knight Frank is a global leader in the real estate consultancy space and he brings in a wealth of knowledge in the local industry that will pair with the global network the company offers.
“We will be looking to provide our clients with a unique service offering,” he said. “Unique in the sense that we want to leverage the global network more than anything. “It is a unique position that most competitors do not have. “It is a global network, having 382 offices around the world and we literally introduce clients to opportunities across the world at a professional level.”
Mooki said at the moment in the market, there are few investment opportunities, which resulted in more investment capital seeking out the available vehicles for returns. He said the local market typically has limited liquidity on the commercial side.
“On the residential side, there is great demand as developments are seen in the fringes of Gaborone, Tlokweng, Modipane, Mmopane, and Mogoditshane Block 7. “The developments are still not being met but the prices are shooting up,” he said.
The youthful CEO said for a long time, there have traditionally been two leading property consultancies in the country with Knight Frank “being on top”.
“It is not about boasting but providing quality service for clients,” he said. “It is different challenges for different eras. “Local investment has its own challenges and our job is about how we help our client navigate these challenges. “Knight Frank’s role includes advising or even educating buyers a bit more on what to look for before they can purchase property. “Our relationships span the entire world and in the market, the world has quickly become a global village. “You want someone with relationships that can access opportunities across the world.”
Mooki graduated in 2011 from Oxford Brookes and started his career at Apex Properties as a valuer the same year, staying in the position for two years. He said by then Apex was not a busy brand.
“After my two years at Apex, I went to RDC Properties as a property manager, managing flagship properties like Masa, Standard Chartered House, and European Union House. “I did that until the end of 2016 and in 2017 I joined Riberry Botswana as a commercial property consultant where I was responsible for commercial broking, listed funds, and portfolio valuations,” he said.
The CEO has handled institutional clients, pension funds, valuations, and investment advisories.
