Botswana honours mothers on Sunday to mark Mother’s Day, one of the most important and globally recognised dates on the calendar where motherhood and the role mothers and women generally play in society and the community are celebrated. Staff Writer BABOKI KAYAWE notes that present-day Botswana owes its success to the mothers across the nation

The country’s history, scarcely recorded as it is in books, is largely that of men, their achievements, their failures and their contributions.

It is written and reported from the point of view of men, local and foreign.  From the Three Chiefs, to the founding ‘fathers’, to the breadwinners who worked the mines in South Africa, men dominate the narrative.
