Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino has revealed a new name for its pool bar, now named Moruleng Bar during a relaunch event held Saturday June 3.

The outlet, which is popular with locals for providing local and international cuisine, drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, has been rebranded to give the poolside outlet an identity derived from the Morula tree that’s in the centre of the resort. The relaunch was attended by among others, Member of Parliament Tumisang Healy as the guest of honour and Avani Hotel & Resort General Manager, Willem van Heerden. The event also saw performances from Gaborone’s talent such as award-winning Hip Hop artists Veezo View and Ban-T and Channel O BotsTop5 host, Mdu Tha Party.

Samantha Bogopa says this comes as a new dawn as they create a new wave on entertainment for its patrons and well wishers. “Good food and drinks is a part of who we are and what defines our identity and reflects local culture,” Bogopa said. “Whether you are hungry, thirsty, or looking for a stylish spot to catch up with friends and family, Moruleng Bar at Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino will provide you with tasty bites, refreshing tipples and international flavours overlooking the hotel’s sparkling pool.”

For his part, Healy said the name is relevant as it is derived from one of the indigenous plants that are so dear to Batswana. To go with the name reveal, the hotel is currently running a gin and tonic promotion at Moruleng Bar on Fridays and Saturdays. The latest developments at the hotel come just a month following the opening of its Mahogany restaurant and launch of new dishes.
