Local creative fashion house, Bantu Gold continues to see its star shine brightest ever since it won the Fashion Without Borders Botswana competition and secured the Mr Price internship last year.

Following that success, the fashion house has seized the opportunity with both hands and is spreading its wings. After clinching the Mr Price deal, the house moved swiftly and introduced a clothing line that is currently sold to fashionistas.

Their dreams came true as they managed to dress some local and international musicians, which is a big deal for many fashion houses. In an interview with Bantu Gold founder Lukundo Simpenba, he said they were able to dress artists such as Focalistic, Nasty C, Han C, Maglera Doe Boy and Blxckie.

He added that they also submitted a custom piece to the National Museum for their awareness campaign against Gender-Based Violence and substance abuse. “On top of all that, we have experienced a growing support from our customers and supporters.

I managed to dress these celebrities through hustle. Sometimes I had to ask for favours from promoters or bouncers or even camp at the airport or in the hotel reception. The aim is to get 30 seconds with an artist whichever way possible and sell my brand.

It is all about how you present your brand to them that determines if you score a deal or not,” he explained. That was not his only achievement as he has since managed to open his online store that makes purchasing easy and can reach buyers beyond local borders.

Simpenba pointed out the online shop was birthed because they wanted to reach a broader audience and be more accessible to their customers outside Botswana. He said interested clients should search www.bantugold.com adding that the website is user friendly. He added that they offered free shipping within Botswana. “We also update different content about Bantu Gold on the site.

The site offers a great browsing experience. The reception has been so far so good. Batswana have really taken a liking to it and we are getting orders from as far as Netherlands. We are very blessed. We are learning as we go, there is so much to know when it comes to digital marketing and online presence. We also take feedback from users and constantly improve it.

It is a never ending cycle,” he added On their plans for this year, he said their first major event is the internship with Mr Price. He added that other than that they would like to do more international shows as well as do collaborations with more designers, artists, painters, models, directors and many creative minds from all around the country.
