The festive period often leaves revellers spoilt for choice as to which music show to attend for fun and merry due to many festivals taking place countrywide.

However, partygoers north of Dibete should be gleaming with excitement and could have an easy choice as the organisers of the Bobirwa Festive Punch (BFP) slated for December 24 at the Riverview Gardens in Bobonong have promised to deliver a show to remember and full of unprecedented fun. In its sixth year, BFP has steadily grown to be counted among the top festive music shows in the country, and this year it promises to get even bigger and better.

The event organiser, Kabo Kgathi has lined up musical giants to headline the show in an attempt to attract many people. He told Arts&Culture that to make it a unique experience this year, they have lined up five artists from South Africa including Ntate Stunna, who has enjoyed a stellar period this year.

Other headliners are Master KG, Charmagal, Paige, ATI, DJ Fresh, DJ Ngwazi, DJ KSB and Ancestral Rituals. “Our revellers must brace themselves for a great festive outing this year. For the first time, we are bringing a unique experience of more than five SA-based acts to our area.

This is our way as BFP to offer a unique festive season experience in Bobirwa. We see a truly bright future for Bobirwa as an untapped market and (we) are playing our role by keeping the area alive through our annual event, taking people back to our envisaged Destination Bobirwa,” Kgathi said. He said as preparations continue, engagements are ongoing with different stakeholders and community leadership to ensure a safe and sound event. “We have seen a gradual, steady increase in the number of revellers attending BFP over the years. The last event was the highest we have recorded with about 4, 800 tickets sold. Our biggest strength and marketing tool is we put our audience first and share The Bobirwa Story,” he said.

Furthermore, Kgathi said BFP is the voice and expression of Babirwa and neighbouring communities as it celebrates the uniqueness of the Bobirwa lifestyle through music and entertainment. Additionally, he appealed for potential sponsors to come on board to make the event a success. He said they do not have any sponsors. However, they have partners such as Manmade Media which assists with event marketing and advertising, the Department of Broadcasting Services and the Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA), which have pledged to buy rights for the event content. “We would like to have more onboard surely,” he added. Entrance fee is P200 standard and P500 for VIP, which is limited.
