Chef Gustos recently just became one the few artists in Botswana to hit million views on YouTube with his song Away from his extended play (EP) Phoko Ke Phoko featuring Priscilla.

The artist, who calls himself ‘Phoko’ becomes the third Motswana artist to hit over million views on YouTube after Vee Mampeezy who hit a million views years back with his Dumalana music video.

The second artist who came after Vee to hit a million views was William Last KRM also known as Motsetserepa with his debut song dubbed ‘Tinto’ that was well received by people at large and currently has 10 million views.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Chef Gustos revealed that he did not in any moment think that he would get to be one of Botswana few artists to hit a million views and he can only thank God for this big milestone in his career. “The moment we released the video I left everything in God's hands and all I can say is God is at work as the numbers keep rising and we continue praying for more and more views,” Gustos said.

The Away hit maker also revealed one of the biggest reasons that the video reached such a milestone is that they really invested so much on it and also that the song alone was doing very well both locally and internationally. “I have a great team around me and we believe in quality and obviously to produce quality you have to spend and we did really spend so much. We did not compromise anything and went all out.

We even shot the video outside the city and that on its own explains a lot,” added proud Gustos. Gustos further said he was confident from the day they composed the song that it would be a hit. “I have been making hits and right now so many people are starting to realise that and when I make music, I always remind myself that I am working on something big and my EP can attest to that,” he revealed.

Chef Gustos credited Priscilla who he feels did the most on the vocals and also stated that she is easy to work with. Now that he seems to have finally made his breakthrough that he has been yearning for, Chef Gustos said there is no looking back as he will continue to release new music. He said people should continue to be on the lookout for new music with visuals from him.

The elated Chef Gustos said he is grateful for reaching one of the pinnacles of his career and gave all thanks to Batswana for supporting his music.
