Mauco, the founder of Women of the Purple Cloth, said that the name was influenced by the word of God on Acts Chapter 16 from verse 11 to 15 that speaks about Lydia who devoted her time, mind and soul to worship God and excel in trading.

“We used Lydia, a seller of purple cloth made of expensive material and was sold to kings. She was a Christian, business woman who took care of her family, servants of God and even strangers,” she said.
