February, the ‘month for love’ is finally coming and many events coordinators across the country will be hosting different events on Valentine's Day.

To celebrate this month, a group of creatives will be hosting a Valentine's Day Gala Dinner in Borolong near Francistown. One of the event coordinators, Lamorena Giri otherwise known as YG Nation explained that one of the key concepts in bringing about strong bonds in citizens is unity.

“Without love people cannot be unified, so as a measure of bringing people together, we saw it fit to organise an event where people will come and dine together in the same place with their loved ones and families. Also what inspired me, as a fine artist to make such an event is to try and find ways to penetrate the already full market and create employment opportunities for different parties involved in building the whole agenda. These include event organisers, musicians, event planners, catering agencies and multimedia personnel,” he said.

Giri further stated that they have lined up various activities leading to the main event. He added that other activities include performances by some local upcoming artists and a showcase of visual artworks (drawings and paintings). He said the artworks to be exhibited will be themed on love.

However, he pointed that a few artists will be invited to the event since it is a dinner not a show. Giri added that they will have MCees, a DJ, RnB artists and comedians. Some of the artists who will perform on the day include Melayin Dave, The Producer, MC Male B, Ramoshabati, MC Ruhi, Mash 2 Wicked, MC Lebadi and Dylan I do. He also said they would be having security personnel at the event to provide safety to revellers. “The plan is to host the event annually since Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year. If the target is met this year, then I am optimistic in hosting the event annually. Some of the art pieces I made are a private collection and would only be showcased at the event. The event will start at 6pm till 10pm,” he ended.
