It was an occasion for the families to step outside their homes for a bit of fun ahead of the festive season.
The little ones enjoyed themselves in a long list of activities that included face paintings, water slides and dance competition while they could not contain their excitement for the spider-man mascot.
On the stage, popular South African singer Makhadzi proved to be a favourite for the generations at the Duma FM grounds. The Limpopo-born musician proved doubters wrong as she honoured her gig.
She had in the past few months been in the wrong books of the local patrons after she missed not less than three bookings on the Independence Day celebrations.
On Saturday she was received by cheers rather than jeers from the young and old at the Gaborone North location. Her energetic performances thrilled the patrons as she performed songs from across her three studio albums. Makhadzi gave the children a moment to remember as she called just reasonable number on the stage as she performed one of her popular songs, ‘Matorokisi’. Before she stepped on the stage, local performer Vee Mampeezy also gave an exciting performance.
The pint-sized artist started off with the new songs including ‘Mjolo wame’. He took things a notch higher with some of his old time classics like ‘Taku-Taku’. Vee Mampeezy engaged well with the crowd and one could tell the kids enjoyed the sight of their superstar on the stage. DJ Bunny had warmed things up just after the lunch hour.
He went for the Amapiano sounds and the crowd could not help but move to the sweet melodies. K. Nice took a different lane as he took the crowd to West Africa with a mix filled with Afro Beat songs.
Popular songs from artists as David, Mr Eazi and Burna Boy were heard on the hour long mix. They shut the event down on a high note as South African DJ and producer, Heavy K brought an A-game.
After a long day activities the young ones had tired by sunset and the ‘seniors’ had Heavy K for themselves. The DJ started his set with Amapiano songs before he switched to Afro Tech while he won the crowd with his Afro House songs from his debut album ‘Respect the Drumboss’. The event was a memorable one for the both the young and old folk to take a breather from the school and work commitments.
