Disco queen, Lebang Baipidi also known as Ponka in the local entertainment industry, recently released her fifth album titled Selo.

The Mogonye pantsula girl’s new album has good songs that include Selo, Bana bame, Tlhalefo, Veroh, Barati bame, Tumelo mafoko, Bale imelwang, Loyality and the intro song.

A new studio with a new producer inspired her to expand her horizons and release a new album. “I have never changed studios and a producer before but this time I decided to try something new.

I wanted my new album to have another touch. I wanted it to be different from the previous ones and see how my fans will react to it. I produced my album last year 2022 and released it in April 14, 2023 at Cabido Music Production Studio. I wrote and composed my songs while Kebaemetse Gabaeme (Cabido) produced it,” she said.

Her other albums include Samora released in2011, Kedibone released in 2012, Pantsula Girl released in 2015 and Golokile released in 2018. She started off as a dancer for Dr Vom in 2001. She later decided to go solo and pursue her passion in signing disco. Furthermore, she explained that as an artist, she faced many challenges which included people who pirate their music.

However, she pointed out that through her music career she achieved a lot, including working with big artists like the late Dan Tshanda. “For more years to come I want to see myself helping others through writing or teaching them how to sing.

I would also like to advice aspiring and upcoming artists not to give up easily and keep pushing till they reach their dreams. I am also open for collaborations with any artist so please do not hesitate to approach me. My CD will be all over in the various platforms including Distrokid, iTunes and others. It sells at P70,” she ended.
