United States of America-based Motswana artist, Godwill Ngoni Daniel, who goes by the stage name, DJ Dagizus’, latest offering pays tribute to his late mother, Priscilla Ndiko Chilume-Daniel.

The new single is titled, Mama. In an interview with Arts&Culture from his Texas base, DJ Dagizus, who is also a music producer and entrepreneur, said the song was released on July 4, which is Independence Day for America. He said his mother passed away in 2004. “During her passing together with my two older sisters we were already in university and the youngest, our last born was still in primary. "She felt deserted, unloved and lonely since she was closer to mama than all of us. So, this is the motivation behind this hit single, to empower all those youngsters who lost their mothers at a young age. "Featured in the single is a vocalist by the name KayBusi who hails from Botswana.

Together with KayBusi, we worked on the concept that would help motivate people going through difficult times,” he said. He further explained that the single was produced in the USA and recorded in Botswana by Pro Lanez who has been working with KayBusi for a long time. “So he let him record the vocalist and premix the song before sending it to Dagee Records for final Mix and mastering,” he said. The beat was produced by one of DJ Dagizus mentees, Bomber Beats. With over 24 years in the music industry, DJ Dagizus has more than five EPs and over 20 singles. He added that most of these singles were performing relatively well in Botswana and other parts of Africa. He also owns a production label called Da-G Production, which has been in existence since 1999. The label has promoted talent and hosted beauty contests in Francistown like Miss Francistown, Miss Millennium and more.
