The duo, who were the headliners of the ‘Friends lyk dis’ event, which was held at the Game City Rooftop, saved the night as the revellers did not pitch up to even fill half of the Game City Rooftop. The event itself got off to a bad start as the ‘groovists’ did not gel well with the event from the onset with performances from the first artists on the line-up.
Few revellers were not having it as some were busy glued to their phones. But that seemed to change as the eagerly awaited Mystro worked the crowd. Mystro took to the stage just when it hit 0000 hours on the dot. And from the onset, revellers danced to his entertaining set. In his set, Maphorisa’s lookalike gave people a taste of his upcoming projects.
The DJ, who blew last year, played his Tobetsa single that moved the multitudes across the continent through Tik Tok. Revellers danced to the tune and even went out to do the signature Tik Tok dance challenge that moved the music enthusiasts on Tik Tok. Mystro closed off his performance with another hit single ‘Bhepa’ that was well received by the music fanatics. Just like the Tobetsa remix tune, revellers danced to the tune and did the Tik Tok dance challenge. After Mystro set the mood and bar high for the revellers, DJ Maphorisa took over from his lookalike and also went all out in his set.
The renowned DJ and producer started off his set with DJ Stokie’s trending hit ‘Awukhuzeki’. DJ Maphorisa continued to deliver a captivating performance, which mostly was only from the Amapiano hits that are still relevant as of today. He went on to include Gangam style, Sgudi Sync of De Mthuda.
Maphorisa, who has a bad name in Botswana for not pitching up for events, surely made up for his woes from his set. He dished out a nice set of close to one hour 30 minutes. He never for one moment failed to connect with the revellers as they sang along and danced throughout his set. The Amapiano king, as he is mostly associated to be the king of the genre, closed off his long set with Ba Strata tune that did wonders last year. It was a wrap after Maphorisa’s long performance as the event was scheduled to end at 2am.
