Former local talent My Star contestant, Ketz Johnson did not give up on his singing career and continues spreading wings in the local music industry. He is now working on a new single titled, Wena Wedwa that will be released next week.

Ketz Johnson is a Soulful artist from Ratholo in Tswapong. He has been in the music scene since 2014 after being eliminated from My Star.

He told Arts & Culture that since the elimination, he never stopped working on music. He explained that Tribal Tiido produced the new single, Wena Wedwa which means you alone. “It is a fusion of soulful Pop Gospel and Amapiano. I worked on it in collaboration with LORD T, who is a Piano Artist in Botswana. It gives the groovy vibes of Amapiano. It was inspired by the way people just see life and thinking they can live without God or one another so it states that we need each other. Tribal Tiido worked on many of my six singles since 2014,” he added.

Ketz Jonhson boasted of having shared the stage with famous musicians such as Kelly Khumalo, Simmy, Sun EL Musician, Big Zulu, Motlha, Mpho Sebina, PJ Powers, Malome Vector and Aubrey Qwana, just to name but a few. He added that he performed in numerous events such as Leteisi on Fleek, Lobatse International Music Festival, Jam For Brunch, Limkokwing Graduation and City View Event. He said some of the challenges he faces in the industry include lack of bookings and international recognition.

He also said most artists that perform in different events were mostly the same ones who have been there making it hard to give other upcoming artists a chance to showcase their talent. He added that lack of branding and promotion was also a major factor in the industry. “My achievements in this career include being nominated for the Ordatey Style and Fashion Awards in Ghana for the Most Stylish Artist of the year 2022 and Most Famous African Artist in 2022. My advice to upcoming Artist is never give up, keep soaring and working hard.

Someone somewhere is inspired by you. Also they should use social media to their benefit as upcoming artists to push their craft. Wena Wedwa is out on all digital platforms and seems to be one of the best projects to have worked on so far. To my fans, expect many more releases from me in the year 2024," he said.
