A local gospel singer, Gaone Selebo also known as Gaone in the gospel music industry, has spread her wings and taken her music internationally.

Gaone told Arts & Culture that the idea to take her music internationally is all part of her strive to grow her brand. The Shoshong native also said she has already gained regional recognition in countries like South Africa (SA) and Lesotho.

She explained that her dream to get known beyond local borders all started last year upon meeting with a radio presenter called Mpumelelo Buthelezi from Incredible Radio in SA, now her manager.

She said Buthelezi had showed interest in her work, adding that through the network she was able to do about 11 interviews in SA and two interviews in Lesotho radios.

She said it was after the interviews that her music enjoyed airplay at those radio stations. Gaone added that the stations that played her music included Motsweding FM, Tshwane FM, Kopanong FM, Incredible Radio Station, Mabopane Rise, Imvula FM, The Neutras Chillas Drive, Hope Alive, Intokozo FM, Africa USA Radio, NNCR and PMR FM and JKK in Lesotho.

She also said last month she was featured in one of the magazines called 'Great Times in SA' adding that she was currently working on three more SA magazine interviews. “I see myself performing in big platforms and being recognised as an international artist. Back then I shared the stage with SA gospel legends such as Benjamin Dube, William Sejake and Keke.

So far I have an album, five singles and two videos. I am also working on the third video now. Apart from singing, I have a company called Lady G Promotions, which promotes other artists more especially the upcoming ones,” she said. “Lady G Promotions has got about 11 artists under its wing. Also I am organising so many events and have been in different committees before like BOMU, AGA Awards, Glitz Awards and others.

Right now I coordinate the Traditional Music Awards that will take place in Kasane this December,” she further said. Despite seemingly doing well, Gaone decried lack of government support for gospel artists saying they don't get bookings for corporate events. She added that most of the times they do not deliver their projects well in time because of finances.

However, she pointed out that has not dented her spirits as she was has scored some achievements in her career including being nominated for the Annual Gospel Awards in 2017 with her music video "Re tla thaba". Furthermore, Gaone advised upcoming artists who aspires to sell their talent internationally to work very hard on building their brand first saying by so doing their hard work and dedication would pay and they would also be able to reach international standards.

“I am inviting all the artists who need help on how to grow their brands to come to Lady G promotions and we will assist them. We are open 24/7 they can contact us and visit our page Lady G Promotions on Facebook. Above, I encourage the artists to put God first in everything they do then their plans will prosper,” she ended.
