It is that time again when Gaborone and surrounding areas will be colourful as the popular Leteisi on Fleek (LOF) event makes a return to the stage.

The upcoming event is billed for October 1, 2022 at Royal Aria Stadium in Tlokweng. Even though this event is famed for fashion and promoting leteisi (German print), it is has also become popular among party goers for its rich musical line-up.

As such, one of the event organisers David Letshwiti, said they have lined up some of the musical heavyweights for the occasion.

He also said LOF is a lifestyle event usually held during Botswana’s Independence holidays that brings together some of the most talented local and international musical talents.

He explained that the event also celebrates leteisi or German print and give their patrons an opportunity to design fashionable outfits. “LOF is anchored around two components of the arts and culture fashion, contemporary music and other music genres.

Although the initial concept had more of a music festival celebratory feel, LOF has evolved through to fashion, offering a fiesta of a cultural celebration. This year the aim is to do it much bigger and better through incorporating more relevant international acts to bring in a more diverse cultural exchange,” he explained.

He added that they also featured very strong local artists, which came out of the reception from the patrons this time around. He said Batswana have been fully supportive, adding that they have since seen some foreigners from as far as Lesotho and South Africa taking interest in the event. Letshwiti promised their followers a memorable event.

He said they would have an experience of their lifetime. He said they have three sections being general, golden and VIP. He explained that each of those areas would have activities that would leave their revellers in awe and wanting more.

Letshwiti also said they would have more photographers and videographers who will be documenting the event. He said they would be having 360 video booths that would enable their revellers to document their experience at the event.

“If there is something that is imperative to us is taking our patrons wishes and demands into consideration therefore, we are bringing the best line-up, a conducive, fun, friendly venue and safety at its best. From the local shores we have Amantle Brown, Dato Seiko, Double Up, Ancestral Ritual, Dikakapa, Maxx Wa Bana, Frostbite, German Dollar, Lexx, 4DD, DJ Quest, DJ Cody and Pexx De DJ.

International acts includes Mafikizolo, Azana, Ntando and Jeziel Brothers,” he said. Furthermore, he explained that their decision to move the event to Royal Aria Stadium was prompted by the fact that it had the right holding and parking capacity therefore accommodating a large number of people. He, however, pointed out that he faced challenges such as unavailability of affordable venues in and around Gaborone and there was also lack of partnering sponsorships. He added that the event space in Gaborone was very saturated and expensive since there were a lot of competing avenues.

He added that LOF was one the biggest shows adding that it could not run and be coordinated from one’s pocket. He said the initiative needed to be appreciated by corporates and government as much as the community does.

He also said not having sponsorship deterred them from working to the best of their ability. He thanked the public for their immeasurable support saying that it is through them they are able to host an event of such magnitude.
