This strategy otherwise known as Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) has resulted in the creation of jobs and increased opportunities for part-time employment for a variety of creative professionals.
According to renowned Event MC, public speaking coach and manager and the director of The Confidence Office, Jazzelle Kebakile, opportunities have opened up in fashion, entertainment, décor and catering service providers. Kebakile explained that the growth of the country’s activity within the MICE space has seen several personalities emerge as Masters of Ceremonies (MCees), a critical component for an event. As such, Kebakile has found it fit to host an MC Workshop scheduled for March 23, 2024 at the Protea by Marriott Hotel Gaborone Masa Square.
“The recently released BTO Official Events Calendar for 2024 features many events, each of which will require the service of an MC. Next week Saturday, I would like to meet with the young people that are eyeing these events so that I can share with them tips to assist them in their preparedness to take on the opportunities that I see for them in the near horizon,” said Kebakile.
She stated that the workshop was designed to give delegates industry insights and tips to develop their careers. Scheduled to perform and speak on the art of public speaking is a highly acclaimed Setswana cultural expert and well-known poet, Edwin Moroka also known as Serurubele. She added that the day will also feature events and client relations expert Lesedi Konzolo, who will speak on what agencies look for in an MC for their clients’ events. Global transport and logistics businesswoman, Neo Gaborone, is also expected to grace the occasion with special remarks.
The event is organised by the new SMME, The Confidence Office; an entertainment PR Company founded in 2017 led by Kebakile. Kebakile has provided private coaching engagements for individuals, shares videos with tips for public speakers on her official Facebook page and this workshop marks her first group coaching session.
She is best known for her performance as MC for a variety of government and private sector events.
These include Global Expo Botswana, The ESAAMLG 23rd Council of Ministers Meeting and the 46th Taskforce of Senior Officials hosted in Kasane by Botswana’s Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) and Ministry of Finance, The Official Launch and Logo Reveal of the National Arts Council, The Inauguration of His Excellency the President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs’ Pan African Forum For Migration and most recently the 10+1 Anniversary Commemoration for the Commonwealth Africa Anti-Corruption Centre (CAACC), hosted by the DCEC.
