Local custom suit brand, KeNo Custom Suits, aims to expand into Africa after successfully entering the local market.

With its 10th anniversary celebrations around the corner in 2024, the founders are hopeful of asserting the label as one of the biggest brands in the continent.

On Tuesday, the clothing line set in motion the quest for this year’s male ambassador titled Face of KeNo Men 2023 during a press conference in Gaborone.

This campaign searches for a fashion-forward gentleman with an ardent appreciation for style to embody the brand's essence.

Speaking at the official launch of the campaign, one of the brand’s directors Thobo Kerekang said KeNo Custom Suits' vision is to grow into one of the household fashion lines in Africa.

Kerekang revealed the brand was established in 2014 after he and his partner realised a gap in the local fashion space of a styled tailored suits that resonate with people who like looking good.

He stated that the brand has expanded its production line over the years by introducing KeNo activewear, water, and KeNo fragrances.

“The whole reason of us expanding our production line is because our vision is to take KeNo into Africa and make it the biggest brand not only in suit but transcending into other industries in Africa. The idea is to make it a household name that people whether in Lobatse, Takatokwane or Kasane could identify with the brand just like other brands in the continent,” Kerekang said.

Furthermore, Kerekang said they made the demand over time which has also set the expansion plan in motion. “When we started, we were targeting men only and then ladies came on board. Our brand is about inclusivity,” he added.

Kerekang's partner, Donald Nnoto, said they already had a branch in Zambia which has unfortunately closed shop. He explained that the primary challenge for the branch was COVID-19 and misalignment in strategies with the partners that side.

"However, we are looking at avenues of how best we can revive it and also looking into other markets such as Namibia and possibly South Africa. The thing about South Africa is that we already have strategic partners that are supplying us with bot fabric and mentorship to a certain extent, so it is a large market and we are possibly looking into having our little branch either in Johannesburg or Pretoria," Nnoto said.

Meanwhile, KeNo Custom Suits management has set massive prizes for the winner of the Face of KeNo Men 2023.

When outlining the prizes, Demi Donald said the winner will amongst other things be entitled to a psychosocioal support courtesy of Peggy Serame Foundation, get a weekend away, a grocery voucher worth P12, 000 for the duration of the reign and free tickets for travel and P5,000 cash from Mokoka Transport.

Furthermore, the winner is also entitled to a six-month grooming sessions with, Gymlife Fitness Club membership for a year, dietician and therapy consultations, consultations at AO clinic, car revamp worth of P10 000 by Tebzafied Car as well as P10 000 cash, exclusive photoshoot and wardrobe makeover worth P24 000 by KeNo Custom Suits.
