The festival organisers have lined up Ancestral Rituals, FME Djs and Romeo Tha Medley to lighten up the launch party. But before the launch party, members of the organizing team will, alongside DJ Ngwazi embark on a cleanup campaign in the village.
The gig, titled Kumnandi Ekhaya Music, is a mastermind of Botswana’s very own international DJ and Uthando hit maker, DJ Ngwazi who returns to his home village, Thamaga this coming independence holidays for a homecoming concert.
The festival, which promises to be a banger is slated for September 30, 2022. The launch party comes on the backdrop of the announcement of the festival’s star-studded lineup a week ago headed by Makhadzi and South African (SA) musician and record producer Master KG while notable names from the local shores include Franco and Vee Mampeezy.
Speaking during a press conference held at #Kana Kgang Restaurant in Gaborone Tuesday, DJ Ngwazi said the launch party is part of the activations meant to create massive hype for the festival. He said his dream is to put up the biggest music event to ever happen in Botswana. “I want to bring Hollywood to the village. I want to put Thamaga in the global map.
The village has contributed a lot to my career,” said Dj Ngwazi. DJ Ngwazi also said they intend to do charity before and post the event. “We intend to also give back to the less privileged members of our society. Growing up without my parents, I know how hard it can be when you want something and there is no one to call for assistance, so we will give back.
We will buy food hampers and hand them over at the Kgotla for the leadership to give them to the deserving people,” he said. As it is, it’s all systems go for the festival as after organisers said tickets are expected to go on sale before the end of the week. Tickets for the sell at P200 presold, P250 at the gate P1000 VIP, P1500 VVIP.
